Pats - Raiders Game Day Preview

The Regina Pats (1-2-0-0) wrap up their weekend by heading north to take on the Prince Albert Raiders (2-0-0-0) in the teams’ first meeting of 2014-15.  Prince Albert took last year’s season series as the Pats went 3-4-1-0 against the Raiders who also won both 2014 Pre-Season meetings between the clubs.  Connor Gay led returning Pats with six points (4G, 2A) against the Raiders last season while Sawyer Lange had nine points (1G, 8A) against Regina in 2013-14.  The Pats are coming off a 7-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors while Prince Albert won both of their contests against the Saskatoon Blades last weekend.  This evening’s game can be heard on 620 CKRM starting at 6:35 p.m.
Lead Up: Pats Roll by Moose Jaw 7-1Connor Gay busted his way onto the scoresheet by tallying a hat-trick in the first two periods of last night’s game in Moose Jaw.  Colby Williams, Sam Steel, Patrick D’Amico and Brady Reagan also scored for Regina as the Pats rolled to their first win of the season.  Tyler Fuhr picked up his first win in goal as a Pat along with John Paddock, Dave Struch and Darrin McKechnie behind the bench.  Brett Howden scored the lone goal for the Warriors.
Impact 17-Year OldsA large part of the Pats’ youth movement is their large group of 17 year old skaters who are finding ways to make an impact early in the season.  Brady Reagan scored the first goal of his WHL career last night in Moose Jaw while James Hilsendager picked up his first career point and dropped the gloves against overage forward Jaimen Yakubowski.  Sergey Zborovskiy got his first career point against the Warriors and Austin Wagner chipped in with an assist.  Rykr Cole dropped the gloves for his first WHL fight and spent time killing penalties along with Jared McAmmond.  Forward Colton Kroeker made his WHL debut in Moose Jaw.
Hitting the ScoresheetAfter a scoreless opening weekend, Connor Gay made his first foray onto the scoresheet with a career night on Friday.  Gay registered his first WHL hat-trick and a career high four point night.  Gay has nine points (4G, 5A) in eleven career games against the Raiders.
