The Regina Pats played their second to last pre-season game on Wednesday night at home to the Prince Albert Raiders at the Co-operators Arena. The Pats entered the game at 4 and 1 while the Raiders were 1-2-0-1. The Pats were coming off a 4-1 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday while P.A. lost in Saskatoon 4-0. The Pats were without forwards Morgan Klimchuk, Dryden Hunt and Braden Christoffer as well as defenceman Kyle Burroughs as all four are attending NHL camps. The Pats had not had any trouble scoring goals in their first 5 preseason games with 30. Almost double what they scored in 5 games last season when they put 16 in the net. The Pats lineup saw Tyler Fuhr start in goal with Dawson MacAuley as his back up. The defence were Sergey Zborovskiy, James Hilsendager, Colby Williams, Chase Harrison, Carter Hansen and Ryan Krushen. Forwards Adam Brooks, Luc Smith, Jared McAmmond, Maximillian Kammerer, Rykr Cole, Rylee Zimmer, Patrick D'Amico, Dane Schioler, Connor Gay, Colton Kroeker, Jacob Elmer and Sam Steel. The scratches were goaltender Daniel Wapple. Defencemen Kyle Burroughs, Isaac Schacher and Brady Reagan. Forwards Morgan Klimchuk, Logan McVeigh, Braden Christoffer, Austin Wagner and Dryden Hunt.

In the first period it was tight in the early goings. The Pats would start to find some scoring chances but Prince Albert goaltender Rylan Parenteau made some great saves. Prince Albert would take the lead at 9:38 as Jordan Tkatch put home a loose puck in the crease for his first. Craig Leverton and Brennan Riddle the assists and it was 1-0. The Raiders would get the games first powerplay and then the Pats took another minor and gave P.A. a 2 man advantage for 42 seconds. The Pats penalty kill would come up big and then the club got a powerplay of their own. They would not score but drew another penalty right after it expired. On that man advantage the Pats tied it up as Patrick D'Amico made a nice play to get the puck to Connor Gay on the left side of the goal and he put home his 2nd of the pre-season at 18:48 and it was 1-1. That's how the period would end with the Pats leading the shots on goal 13-9.

In the second period the quality of play was pretty good but both goaltenders continued to play well. The Pats would get a powerplay in the frame but were unable to score. The Raiders would get two powerplays of their own but would not score either. The Raiders outshot the Pats 6-5 in the frame but Regina led overall 18-15.

In the third the Raiders would retake the lead 34 seconds in as Brendan Guhle fired a shot through a screen top corner to make it 2-1. Craig Leverton and Colton McCarthy the assists. The Pats would tie it up at 3:38 as Luc Smith absolutely hammered a puck into the top corner from the left circle for his first to make it 2-2. Rylee Zimmer and Colton Kroeker the asissts. The Pats would take their first lead at 11:21 as Patrick D'Amico put home a nice pass from Connor Gay and it was 3-2. Chase Harrison picked up the second assist. 25 seconds later the Raiders would tie it up as Matteo Gennaro tipped home a point shot at 11:46 for his 3rd of the pre-season. Brendan Guhle and Darcy Zaharichuk with the assists. The game would head to OT tied. The Raiders outshot the Pats 13-9 in the period and led overall 28-27.

In OT the Raiders would get the game winner as Calder Brooks forced a turnover in the offensive zone and skated in all alone finishing his 1st of the pre-season unassisted. The goal came at 3:45 and Prince Albert took the 4-3 victory. P.A. outshot the Pats 3-1 in OT and led overall 31-28.

The Pats wrap up the pre-season on Friday in Prince Albert with a 7 o'clock puck drop from the Art Hauser Centre.
