Thunder 35 @ Wildcats 14 - Stats Look


The Regina Thunder picked up a huge win on the road on Sunday 35-14 over the Edmonton Wildcats. The Thunder really shored up the run defense in the game giving up just 70 yards along the ground and 228 yards overall in net offense. On the flip side they put up 436 yards of net offense in the win. Another big stat was the Thunder did not turn the ball over while forcing the Wildcats into two. Here is the individual stats story.

Quarterback Jaeden Marwick went 19 of 25 through the air for 259 yards and a touchdown.

Marwick spread the ball to 8 different receivers. The leader was Preston Bews with 5 catches for 75 yards. Kristiane Desautels caught 3 for 41, Justin Bannin 2 for 34, Levi Paul 2 for 33, Kasim Ocaya 3 for 31, Colton Klassen 1 for 26, Matt Frass 2 for 11 and a touchdown and Thomas Bresciani had 1 catch for 8 yards.

Matt Frass led the ground attack with 14 carries for 76 yards. Jaeden Marwick had 6 carries for 55 yards. Colton Klassen 5 for 27 and a touchdown. Justin Bannin 9 for 24 and a TD and Kristiane Desautels 1 for 19.

On special teams kicker William McGee punted four times for a 123 yard total and along of 38. He was also 4 of 5 kicking field goals, his longest coming from 41 yards out.

Kristiane Desautels had 5 punt returns for 46 yars. Menedum Menegbo took back 2 kickoff returns for 64 yards.

Defensively the Thunder were led in tackles by defensive lineman Michael Desjarlais who had 7 and one on special teams.

Menedum Menegbo and Terri Giovannetti each had 5 tackles with Giovannetti adding a knock down.

DL Ryan Warner and LB Taylor Garrett combined for a sack while Brandon Whitehouse got the other for Regina.

DB Chris Tunnicliffe picked up his first interception of the year and also had a knockdown.

The Thunder are now tied for 1st place in the PFC with the Winnipeg Rifles at 3 and 1. They play in Winnipeg this coming Sunday.
