Winterhawks acquire Koules from Tigers

The Portland Winterhawks have acquired forward Miles Koules from the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for a fourth round draft pick in the 2017 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Koules, 20, is in his third WHL season. He had career-highs across the board last season with 25 goals and 26 assists for 51 points. In 141 career games, Koules has totaled 45 goals and 47 assists for 92 points, including one goal in two games thus far in 2014-15.

“Miles is a player whose experience will add to our group,” said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Jamie Kompon. “He excels at puck possession and his offensive instincts make him a player who will add to our attack this season.”

The acquisition of Koules gives the Winterhawks four 20-year-old overage players, along with Josh Hanson, Travis McEvoy and Joshua Smith. The team has until October 15 to get down to three overage players.

Premier Membership season tickets and 20, 12 and 6-game plans for 2014-15 are on sale now. Contact the Winterhawks today at 503-236-HAWK to guarantee the best seat locations.
