The Regina Pats continued their three game road trip in Lethbridge on Saturday night against the Hurricanes. The Pats were coming off a 1-0 loss in Cranbrook on Friday against the Kootenay Ice. The Pats put 34 shots on goal in the contest but could not beat Wyatt Hoflin and dropped their second straight game. The Hurricanes lost their 5th in a row on Friday at home to the Victoria Royals 4-2 and came in with just one win on the year. Pats forward Morgan Klimchuk took warm-ups on Saturday and played in the game. Tyler Brown got his first ever WHL start in goal in the game. In the first period The Hurricanes almost scored on their opening rush of the game but Riley Sheen fired wide all alone in front. After that the Pats carried the play and if not for Stuart Skinner in the Hurricances net the Pats would have had a couple early goals. However the game remained tied and midway through the period we saw some 4 on 4 action. Just as that expired Carter Folk was sprung on a breakaway by Tyler Wong and he beat Tyler Brown 5 hole at 13:37 to give Lethbridge the 1-0 lead. The Pats then got into some penalty trouble and went down 2 men for 48 seconds but were able to kill it off. As the second penalty expired Dryden Hunt took a pass on right wing and cut into the offensive zone, then into the slot and beat Skinner on the backhand 5-hole to tie the game at 1's at 18:30. Connor Gay and Sergey Zborovskiy the assists and we went to the break tied. The Hurricanes led the shots on goal 11-10 after 1.

In the second the Pats went to their 3rd penalty kill in the earl goings but were able to kill it off and then found the go ahead goal. Connor Gay sent an unbelievable feed in front to Colby Williams who scored his 2nd of the year at 6:33 and it was 2-1 Regina. Dryden Hunt picked up the 2nd assist. Then at 15:05 Regina went up 3-1 as Austin Wagner fired a hot shot from the slot into the top corner for his second from Adam Brooks and Braden Christoffer. The Canes took 4 penalties in the period, two of them late and the Pats went up 2 men for 41 seconds. With 6 seconds left in the period Morgan Klimchuk banged home his first of the year in his first game at 19:54 to make it 4-1. Sam Steel and Kyle Burroughs with the assists. That's how the period came to an end with the Pats outshooting Lethbridge 18-6 in the period and 28-17 overall. 1:18 of powerplay time carried over into the 3rd.

In the third the Pats scored with that powerplay 1:12 in. Connor Gay put home his 4th of the year on the back hand with assists to Dryden Hunt and Patrick D'Amico. Then at 6:36 Patrick D'Amico scored his 4th of the year with an assist to Pavel Padakin and it was 6-1 and that was the final score. The Hurricanes outshot the Pats 13-7 in the period but the Pats led overall 35-30. Tyler Brown made 29 saves on 30 shots for his first WHL win in his first start.

The Pats powerplay went 2 for 4 on the night and the penalty kill was 6 for 6.

Senior VP of Hockey Ops and Head Coach John Paddock said post game they played a solid 60 minutes and that Friday and Saturday's games were the best two of the season for his club. He was very impressed with Tyler Brown in his first start and Morgan Klimchuks first game.

The third star of the game went to the Pats Dryden Hunt who had a goal and 2 assists. Patrick D'Amico was the second star with a goal and an assist and the first star went to Connor Gay who scored once and added two assists in the win.

The Pats are back in action on Sunday at 4 o'clock in Calgary against the Hitmen at 4 o'clock on CKRM 2.
