In the first period the Pats got off to a great start and outshot the Warriors 7-1 before opening the scoring at 6:53. Adam Brooks knocked a loose puck in the crease through the legs of Sawchenko for his 23rd with assists to Pavel Padakin and Connor Hobbs and it was 1-0. The Pats went to the penalty kill after that and got their 15th short handed goal of the year. Adam Brooks stole a puck in the defensive zone, skated up the left wing and fired through the legs of Sawchenko for his second of the game and 24th of the season at 13:27. The unassisted marker tied him with Taylor Cooper for the team lead in goals and put him in the team lead with points with 51. The Warriors responded on that same powerplay 8 seconds later as Jack Rodewald shot from the left side and just snuck it inside the post for his 30th from Brayden Point at 13:27 and it was 2-1. Adam Brooks almost completed the hattrick with a wide open net but shot it into the pad of Sawchenko, the play turned back the other way and the Pats took a penalty. Then 32 seconds later they took another and went down 2 men for the final 11 seconds of the period and 1:17 to start the second. The Pats outshot Moose Jaw 14-12 in the period.
In the second the Warriors did not score on their 5 on 3 powerplay but took all the momentum in the game. It took until 10:57 until they finally tied it up as Tanner Eberle tipped in his 31st from Dustin Perrillat and Austin Adam and it was 2-2. The Pats took two penalties right after that and were down two men again. This time Tanner Eberle converted on a great passing play for his second of the game and 32nd from Jack Rodewald and Brayden Point at 11:21 and it was 3-2. At 15:39 Brayden Point scored on his own rebound for his 29th from Tanner Eberle and Austin Adam to make it a 4-2 Warrior lead. Moose Jaw took a penaley with 12 seconds left in the frame and 1:48 carried over into the third for the Pats powerplay. The Warriors outshot the Pats 15-10 in the period and led overall 27-24.
In the third the Pats did not score on the powerplay but kept he pressure on the Warriors. At 6:01 Jesse Gabrielle jammed his 20th into the net from Patrick D'Amico and Adam Brooks and it was 4-3. Adam Brooks then completed his first WHL hattrick at 9:08 with his 25th of the season from Sergey Zborovskiy and Braden Christoffer and it was 4-4. Patrick D'Amico gave the Pats the lead at 15:28 as he snapped is 18th into the top corner from Taylor Cooper and Sam Steel and it was 5-4. The Warriors tied it up as Brett Howden banged a rebound just over the line for his 15th. Initially the goal was called off on the ice and the game continued for about 45 seconds before they went back and called it a goal. Jack Rodewald the lose assist at 16:56 and it was 5-5. That was the score through regulation, the Pats outshot the Warriors 15-6 in the third and led 39-33 overall.
In ovetime the first shot went in at 1:31. Jesse Shynkaruk snapped his 7th of the year into the top corner from Jiri Smejkal and Ryan Gardiner and the Warriors took the 6-5 win. The Pats do pick up a point on Swift Current for second in the East Division, now 10 points up with 10 games left to play.
The Pats powerplay went 1 for 3 in the game while the penalty kill was 3 for 5.
The third star of the game went to the Warriors Jack Rodewald who had a goal and two assists. The second star to the Pats Adam brooks who had the hattrick and an assist and the first star to the Warriors Brayden Point who scored a goal and added two helpers.
The Pats host the Warriors Sunday night at the Brandt Centre at 6 o'clock.
