Pats - Warriors Game Day Preview


The Regina Pats (6-6-1-0) hit the road to Moose Jaw on Saturday afternoon for a matinee against the Warriors (8-3-1-1). The Warriors won at the Brandt Centre on Friday night 5-1 and improved to 2-0-1-0 against Regina on the season. Puck drop is at 2 o’clock this afternoon with the pre-game at 1:35 on 620 CKRM Two. The Lead Up
The Warriors got three goals from former Regina Pats forward Dryden Hunt on Friday in a 5-1 win at the Brandt Centre. The Pats opened the scoring thanks to Sam Steel but the Warriors scored 5 unsanswered in the victory. Zach Sawchenko stopped 31 of 32 shots faced and the Pats fell 5 points back of Moose Jaw in the East Division standings.


Steel Ties Team Lead
Pats second year forward out of Sherwood Park Sam Steel provided the only offense for the Pats on Friday. With his 5th goal of the seaosn he tied Adam Brooks for the tema lead in points with 14 on the year. Lane Zablocki picked up the lone assist, he is in the top 20 in rookie scoring in the WHL with 7 points on the season.

Penalty Kill Throws Shutout
One of the few positives for the Pats on Friday night was the penalty kill. The team was shorthanded twice and killed hem both off, marking the first time this season they have not given up a powerplay goal to the opposing team.

Zborovskiy to Represent Russia
Pats defenceman Sergey Zborovskiy is one of 4 WHLer’s that will suit up for Team Russia in the 2015 Canada-Russia series in November. The New York Rangers 3rd round pick leads all Pats defenceman with 8 points on the season. The Canada-Russia series comes to the WHL on November 9th and 10th in Kelowna and Kamloops B.C.
