The Regina Pats were in Calgary on Sunday afternoon looking to snap a 6 game losing streak on the road against the Hitmen going back to December of 2011. The Pats were riding a hot streak coming in having won 4 of their last 5 including a 4-2 victory in Edmonton on Friday night. The Hitmen meanwhile had struggled without their starting goaltender Brenden Burke and had been outscored 21-6 in three straight losses heading into Sunday. The Hitmen won the first meeting of the season between the two clubs two weeks prior at the Brandt Centre. The Pats Adam Brooks took a 5 game point streak into the contest with 7 goals and 6 assists in that stretch. Here are the lineups for the game with the starters highlighted.

In the first period the game got off to a slow start with not much in the way of chances either way. The Pats got the games first powerplay but could not convert. The game stayed even until after the midway point of the frame and that's when the Hitmen started to press. The Pats held them off, thanks in part to good goaltending from Tyler Brown. Austin Wagner had the Pats best chance but just missed up high on the short side. The Hitmen got their first powerplay late in the frame and at 19:55 took the 1-0 lead. Jake Bean fired a laser into the top of the net from the left circle for his 6th of the year. Radel Fazleev and Travis Sanheim the assists and it was 1-0 after 1. Calgary outshot the Pats 14-5 in the period.

In the second the Pats tied the game just 31 seconds in. Adam Berg attempted to center from the side of the Hitmen goal and it went off a Calgary skate in the crease and in. Berg with his first of the year from Connor Hobbs and Chase Harrison and it was 1-1. The Pats then took 3 straight penalties, the first two they killed quite well but the third ended up in the back of the net. Chase Lang slid home a rebound for his 2nd of the year at 15:22. Pavel Karnaukhov and Travis Sanheim the assists and it was 2-1. The Hitmen then took two straight penalties and gave the Pats 22 seconds of 5 on 3 time but killed it off. 11 seconds of the second minor carried over into the 3rd with Calgary leading 2-1. The Hitmen outshot the Pats 11-10 in the second and 25-15.

In the third period the Hitmen Powerplay went three for three with goals from Jake Bean, Radel Fazleev and Jordy Stallard and took the victory 5-1. The Hitmen suffocated the Pats offense, allowing just 5 shots on goal in the period and outshot Regina 33-20 overall. The Pats record now sits at 5-5-0-0.

The Pats powerplay was oh for 3 in the contest and the penalty kill went 2 for 7.

The third star of the game went to the Hitmen's Travis Sanheim who had three assists. The second star to Cal;gary's Radel Fazleev who scored and had two helpers and the 1st star to the Hitmen's Jake Bean who had two goals and an assist.

The Pats wrap up their 5 game road trip Tuesday in Cranbrooks B.C. against the Kootenay Ice at 7 o'clock on 620 CKRM.
