Pats - Broncos Game Day Preview

The Regina Pats (7-6-1-0) hit the road on Friday to take on the Swift Current Broncos (6-8-2-0) for the first time since their first round playoff matchup to end the 2014/15 season. The Pats swept that series 4 games to none. Tonight is the first of 6 meetings between the two clubs this year. Puck drop is at 7 o’clock with the pre-game at 6:35 on 620 CKRM.

The Lead Up
The Regina Pats earned a split in their home and home set with the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday with a 4-3 overtime win. Adam Brooks and Austin Wagner each had three point nights in thw victory while goaltender Tyler Brown stopped 38 of 41 shots. Chase Harrison scored the winner just 13 seconds into overtime, it was his first goal of the year.
The Siwft Current Broncos were last in action on Tuesday when they lost at home to the Victoruia Royals 3-1. Alex Forsberg had 3 assists for the Royals in the win. Cavin Leth scored the Broncos lone goal in the contest.
Pats Trade Wapple

The Regina Pats acquired a 4th round Bantam Draft pick in 2017 from the Vancouver Giants for 20-year-old net minder Daniel Wapple on Thursday. The Saskatoon product joined the Pats in 2013 when the club acquired him from the Medicine Hat Tigers. The team has recalled Jordan Hollett who joins Tyler Brown as the teams two goalies going forward. 
Brooks hits 100
Regina Pats forward Adam Brooks eclipsed the 100 career points plateau on Saturday in Moose Jaw. The 19-year-old is up to 102 points in 193 games played. What is interesting about the milestone is that Brooks had just 23 points in his first 115 games over 2 seasons. In the 78 games since, the Winnipeg product has 79 points, 38 of those goals.

Hello Jon Martin
The Swift Current Broncos traded a 4th round Bantam Draft pick to the Kootenay Ice for forward Jon Martin on October 5th. What a trade that has worked out to be. The overager has 16 goals in 16 games and 27 points on the season. That is top 5 in the league. Martin’s previous career high in points in a season was last year with 24.
Zborovskiy Returns
Pats defenceman and New York Rangers 3rd round draft pick Sergey Zborovskiy will be back in the lineup on Friday night. The 18-year-old missed the clubs last game with an upper body injury. Meanwhile Washington Capitals prospect Connor Hobbs will not play tonight, he is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury. The Broncos will be missing one of their starts as well, forward Jake DeBrusk who is the Boston Bruins 2015 1st round pick is out with injury.

Macklin Suspended
The Pats will be without the services of 20-year-old Aaron Macklin for the next 5 games. He was handed a suspension by the WHL on Tuesday after a hit to the head against the Warriors in Saturdays win.

Phil it must be a typo. The draft pick the Pats received in the Wapple trade is a 4th in 2017 not 2014.
