Pats - Oil Kings Game Day Preview


The Regina Pats (11-9-2-0) are in Edmonton tonight looking to put together back to back wins when they take on the Oil Kings (8-14-3-0). It’s the third meeting of the season between the two clubs, the Pats are two and oh winning 5-3 in Edmonton on October 11th and 4-2 in Regina on October 16th. Puck drop is at 8 o’clock with the pre-game at 7:35 on 620 CKRM.

The Lead Up
The Regina Pats got goals from Adam Brooks, Rykr Cole and Taylor Cooper to beat the Red Deer Rebels on Tuesday 3-2 at the Enmax Centrium. The win snapped a two game slide for the Pats. Regina outshot Red Deer 36-35 in the game and the penalty kill went 6 for 7 including the final 2:50 left in regulation.

The Edmonton Oil Kings were last in action on Saturday in Kamloops and lost 5-3 to the Blazers. The Oil Kings picked up just one win in their 5 games through the B.C. Division. The Oil Kings have dropped 3 in a row and 5 of their last 6.

Beast Mode Brownie
Tyler Brown continues to impress since taking over the teams starting duties after the trade of Daniel Wapple to the Vancouver Giants. Brown made 33 saves in Red Deer on Tuesday and raised his save percentage to .917 on the season. Since the Wapple trade on November 5th, Brown is 3-3-0-0 with a 2.61 G.A.A. and a .933 save percentage.

Brooks on Career Pace
Pats 19-year-old forward Adam Brooks is headed for another career season in the WHL. The Winnipeg product has scored 11 goals and has 27 points in 22 games played. Last season through 22 games Brooks had 18 points and went on to score 30 times and have 62 points. This year Brooks is on pace to finish with 88.3 points, over 26 points in improvement.


Kroeker Breaking Out

Pats forward Colton Kroeker is having a career year. He set a career high in points with an assist in Red Deer last night. Kroeker has 3 goals and 7 points in 21 games this season. Last year the Surrey B.C. product had 3 goals and 6 points in 52 games.
