The Lead Up
The Regina Pats got 2 point nights from Adam Brooks, Austin Wagner and Connor Hobbs on Saturday but Reid Gardiner scored 11 seconds into overtime to give the Prince Albert Raiders the 4-3 victory. Jordan Hollett stopped 41 shots in the OT loss but for the second time this season the Pats took a point from the East Division leading Raiders.

The Rebels were last in action on Friday at home to the Saskatoon Blades and won 6-1. Ivan Nikolishin scored a hattrick, Evan Polei put up 3 assists and Rylan Toth stopped 28 of 29 shots. The victory was the second in a row for the Rebels, they are 7-3-0-0 in their last 10 contests.

Goaltending Strenth
The Regina Pats may have only picked up 1 of a possible 4 points over the weekend but goaltenders Tyler Brown and Jordan Hollett put on a show in the two games. On Friday in Brandon, Brown put up a career high 51 saves while Hollett followed that up with 41 saves in Prince Albert on Saturday. Brown has seen his save percentage jump to .915, that is tied for 9th in the WHL.

Wagner Producing
Pats 18-year-old, L.A. Kings product, Austin Wagner is playing his best hockey of the season. The Calgary product has 2 points in 4 of his last 5 games. The 8 points, 4 goals and 4 assists, have Wagner up to 16 points in his 21 games played.

Family History
Pats forward Jake Leschyshyn and Rebels forward Ivan Nikolishin have some interesting family history. Back on November 2nd 1996, Jake’s dad, Curtis Leschyshyn was traded from the Colorado Avalanche to the Washington Capitals. 7 days later Washington flipped Curtis to the Hartford Whalers and in return acquired Ivan’s father Andrei Nikolishin. Curtis Leschyshyn played one season in Hartford before the club moved to Carolina while Nikolishin played 4 seasons in Washington. Both their sons will meet on the ice tonight.
