Pats - Wheat Kings Game Day Preview


The Regina Pats (10-8-1-0) take a three game winning streak into Brandon for their second meeting of the season with the Wheat Kings (13-7-0-2). The Wheat Kings won the first meeting between the two clubs back on October 3rd by a 6-0 score. Tonight is the first of 9 straight games on the road for the Pats who won’t return to home ice until December 9th. Puck drop is at 7:30 with the pre-game at 7:05 on 620 CKRM.

The Lead Up
The Pats won their third straight game on Tuesday night, 4-2 over the Medicine Hat Tigers at the Brandt Centre. The Pats got goals from Sam Steel (SH), Jake Leschyshyn, Austin Wagner and Adam Brooks (EN) in the victory. Tyler Brown stopped 35 of 37 shots faced for the win.

The Wheat Kings hosted Medicine Hat on Wednesday and won that game 6-2. Brandon scored three times in the third, Ivan Provorov and Reid Duke each recorded a goal and an assist while Logan Thompson made 42 saves in the win.

Hobbs makes his Return
Pats defenceman Connor Hobbs will play in his first game since October 31st in Moose Jaw. Hobbs took an elbow to the head in that game and has missed the last 5 contests. Hobbs, the Washington Capitals 5th round pick in 2015, has 3 goals, 7 assists and is a plus 3 in 13 games this season.

Macklin’s Suspension Ends
Pats overage forward Aaron Macklin is also back tonight after serving a 5 game suspension for a hit to the head against the Warriors on October 31st as well. The High River AB native has a goal, 3 assists, 41 PIM’s and is a plus 7 in 14 games played.

Brooks and Wagner Streaking
Forwards Adam Brooks and Austin Wagner are red hot entering tonight’s game in Brandon. Each has recorded points in 3 straight games. Brooks has a goal and 6 assists over that stretch while Wagner has 4 goals and 2 helpers. Lane Zablocki (1G 2A), Adam Berg (2G 2A), Chase Harrison (1G 4A) and Colby Williams (2G 2A) are also riding three game point streaks.
