The Regina Pats took on the Lethbridge Hurricanes for the second time this season on Sunday at the Brandt Centre. The Pats were coming off a thrilling 8-5 win over the Red Deer Rebels on Friday where Adam Brooks had 4 assists, Jordan Hollett picked up his first WHL win in goal and Colby Williams made his season debut, scoring a goal, adding an assist and was a plus 3. The Hurricanes meanwhile lost in Brandon 4-1 on Saturday night, their second loss in a row. That being said the Canes cracked the CHL Top 10 for the first time this season coming in at number 10 this week. Lethbridge won the first game between the two clubs back in October 6-4. Both the Pats Adam Brooks and the Hurricanes Tyler Wong recorded hattricks in the contest. Here are the lineups for Sunday's game with the starters highlighted.






Pats scratches - Knyzhov, Cooper, Woods, Macklin and Hobbs.
Hurricanes scratches - White, Merezhko and Pankewicz. 

In the first period the Pats got off to a great start and on their third shift got the opening goal. Jake Leschyshyn tipped in his 1st of the year at 1:06. Lane Zablocki and Sean Richards the assists and it was 1-0. Richards recording his first career WHL point on the goal. The Pats kept pushing but Stuart Skinner made some big saves and then Lethbridge got the games first powerplay. Late in it Tyler Wong was in the right spot when a shot came off the end wall in front and potted his 16th. Assists to Andrew Nielsen and Brayden Burke at 10:04 and it was 1-1. The Canes got another powerplay and just as it expired looked to have the 2-1 go ahead goal but after review it was waived off because of a high stick. The Pats found their legs again after that and came close to finding their second goal but it did not materialize and it was 1-1 after 1. The Pats outshot Lethbridge 13-12 in the period.

In the second the Hurricanes scored at 5:17 on a fast transition. They moved the puck well and Giorgio Estephan scored his 8th of the year from Brayden Burke and Egor Babenko to make it 2-1. The Pats had two poweprlays after that but could not score. Rykr Cole had the best chance but hit the post. The Pats outshot Lethbridge 12-10 in the period and led 25-22 overall.

In the third the Pats tied it up at 5:29 when Luc Smith spun a puck off a skate and in for his 1st of the year. Lone assist to Sean Richards and it was 2-2. The Hurricanes got the lead back at 8:06. Arvin Atwal slapped a puck from the right point and it got through for his 4th of the year. Ryley Lindgren and Cory Millette the assists and it was 3-2. But 49 seconds later the Pats tied it up as Colby Williams blcoked a clearing attempt at the right point, skated right circle, pulled off a toe drag and snapped home his 2nd goal in his second game at 8:55 and it was 3-3. It stayed that way until the final two minutes when Adam Berg fired one from the left circle and scored his 3rd of the year from Adam Brooks and Austin Wagner at 18:34 and the Pats led 4-3. The Canes pulled Skinner late and that's when Austin Wagner scored his 6th of the year from Adam Brooks at 19:06, that made it 5-3 and that was the final score. The shots in the 3rd were 14-14 and the Pats led overall 39-36.

The Pats powerplay was oh for 2 in the game and the penalty kill was 1 for 2.

The third star of the game went to the Pats Sean Richards who had two assists. The second star to the Hurricanes Tyler Wong who scored a goal and the first star to the Pats Jake Leschyshyn who scored a goal as well. 

The Pats are right back at it on Tuesday when they host the Medicine Hat Tigers at the Brandt Centre at 7 o'clock.
