The Regina Pats were looking to snap a three game losing streak when they hosted the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the Brandt Centre on Saturday night. The Pats most recent defeat came Friday night when they lost 4-3 to the WHL leading Kelowna Rockets. The Hurricanes meanwhile won in Brandon on Friday 5-3 and had won 8 of their last 10 and sat two points out of first in the Central Division. The Hurricanes entered the contest leading the WHL in goals with 122 in their first 30 games, an average of 4.06 goals per game. The Pats and Hurricanes had split the first two meetings of the year with the home team winning each time. Here are the lineup's for the game with the starters highlighted.






Pats scratches - Zborovskiy, Hilsendager, Smith and Elmer. 
Hurricanes scratches - Davis and Sheen. 

In the first period the Pats got off to a great start, scoring 1:04 in. Connor Hobbs walked to the slot and rifled home his 10th of the season, extending his point streak to 9 games with 6 goals and 4 assists in that stretch. The lone assist to Adam Berg and it was 1-0. The Hurricanes got it back at 8:20 when Egor Babenko beat Hollett shot side on a shot from the left circle for his 16th. Justin Gutierrez the lone assist and it was 1-1. The Canes then took two straight powerplays and gave the Pats 46 seconds up 5 on 3. Colby Williams scored from the left goaline on a back door feed from Sam Steel at 10:27. Adam Brooks the second assist and it was 2-1. The Pats extended the lead to 3-1 when Lane Zablocki and Adam Brooks combined to set up Adam Berg who tapped home his 6th on a beautiful passing play at 18:21. That's how the period ended with the Pats leading on the shot clock 13-8.

In the second the Pats kept the offense coming. First Rykr Cole scored his 5th on a beautiful pass from Taylor Cooper at 7:12. Jared Freadrich the second helper and it was 4-1. Then at 8:40 Lane Zablocki potted his own rebound with assists to Chase Harrison and Adam Berg to make it 5-1. The Pats made it a 6-1 game at 13:32 when Rykr Cole found Sam Steel in front who buried his 9th. Sean Richards the second assist. The Pats them went shorthanded for the first time in the game and the leagues best powerplay made them pay. Ryley Lindgren tipped in his 13th from Brayden Burke and Andrew Nielsen at 16:31 and the Pats lead was 6-2. At 18:37 Lethbridge got to within 3 when Giorgio Estephan snapped home his 12th from the left circle. Tyler Wong and Andrew Nielsen the assists and it was 6-3. The Pats took another penalty with 1:14 left in the period but killed the time on the clock and took the 3 goal lead to the break. The Hurricanes outshot the Pats 16-13 in the period but Regina led overall 26-24.

In the third Hurricanes got within 2 at 6:10 when JustinGutierrez scored his 15th from Brayden Burke and Egor Babenko. Lethbridge got another goal at 11:18. Brayden Burke had a pass go off his skate and in for his 8th. Assists to Egor Babenko and Justin Gutierrez and it was 6-5. The Pats held on from there to pick up the victory. The Hurricanes outshot the Pats 12-9 in the period and led 36-35 overall.

The Pats powerplay went 1 for 3 in the win and the penalty kill was 1 for 2.

The third star of the game went to the Hurricanes Brayden Burke who had a goal and 2 assists. The second star to the Pats Adam Berg who had a goal and 2 assists and the first star to the Pats Adam Brooks who had 2 assists. 

The Pats wrap up a stretch of 4 games in 5 days Sunday on the road in Saskatoon against the Blades. Puck will drop at 4 o'clock on 620 CKRM.
