The Regina Pats were looking to put an end to a five game losing streak on Tuesday night when they took on the Saskatoon Blades at the Brandt Centre. It was a big game for both clubs, the Pats sat 6 points up in the Eastern Conference standings but the Blades hold two games in hand and sit just outside the playoff picture in the East. The Blades carried a two game winning streak against the Pats into the contest, this was the fourth time in the Month of December the two teams had met. Adam Brooks was riding a 7 game point streak for the Pats with 5 goals and 8 assists in that stretch while the Blades Connor Gay was on an 8 game streak, tallying 4 goals and 9 assists. Here are the lineup's for the contest with the starters highlighted.






Pats scratches - Knyzhov, Smith, McAmmond, Freadrich and Pouteau. 
Blades scratches - Kustra and Gingras. 

In the first period the Pats got off to a string start and on their first powerplay halfway through the frame got the first goal. Sam Steel sniped form the left circle for his 11th with assists to Adam Brooks and Connor Hobbs at 10:28 and it was 1-0. The Blades went to their second powerplay after that but it was the Pats who picked up the shorthanded goal. Adam Brooks was sprung on the breakaway and he fired home his 20th of the season with assists to Austin Wagner and James Hilsendager at 11:24 to make it 2-0. That was the score after 1 with the Pats leading on the shot clock 16-3.

In the second the Pats kept on pressing and picked up 4 powerplays to the Blades 2 but neither team would score. The Pats outshot Saskatoon 11-5 in the period and led 27-8 overall and took the 2-0 lead to the 3rd.

In the third the Blades got within a goal at 4:11 when Connor Gay buried his 13th off a faceoff win from Cameron Hebig and the Pats lead was 2-1. The Pats got that one back at 9:30 however when Adam Berg buried his 7th from Adam Brooks and Austin Wagner and it was 3-1 and that was the final score. The Blades outshot the Pats 12-3 in the period but Regina led overall 30-20.

The Pats powerplay went 1 for 5 in the game and the penalty kill was 4 for 4.

The third star of the game went to the Blades Connor Gay who had a goal in the loss. The second star to the Pats Sam Steel who also scored and the first star to the Pats Adam Brooks who had a goal and 2 assists. 

The Pats are right back at it on Wednesday night in Prince Albert against the Raiders with a 7 o'clock puck drop on 620 CKRM.
