The Lead Up
The Pats gave up 4 goals in the 3rd period on Friday night in Cranbrook and lost 5-3 to the Kootenay Ice. The game was tied 1-1 after 40 minutes with the Pats heavily outshooting the Ice but things turned in the final period. The loss dropped the Pats back below 500 and they have lost two in a row.

The Chiefs were last in action on Sunday when they lost 5-1 to the Portland Winterhawks. Dominic Zwerger scored the lone goal for Spokane while the Hawks were led by Dominic Turgeon who had 2 goals and a helper.

Woods Solid in Return
Regina product Riley Woods was recalled on Thursday and suited up for the Pats on Friday against the Kootenay Ice. The 17-year-old had two assists in the contest and is up to 6 points in 12 games played so far this season.

Steel Named to Top Prospects Game
Sam Steel is the highest rated NHL draft prospect for 2016 on the Regina Pats. He was named to the BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game later this month in Vancouver. Steel will play for Team Cherry in the game. Steel is rated an ‘A’ prospect by the Central Scouting Service as a potential 1st round draft pick.

Defensive Struggles
Goal scoring has not been the problem for the Pats over the last month or so. However the number of goals allowed has been on the rise. In their last 14 games, the Pats have given up 60 goals. That’s an average of 4.3 against per game. Tough to win when you give up that many.
