Pats - Raiders Game Day Preview

The Regina Pats (17-16-3-3) are back at it Sunday afternoon at the Brandt Centre when they take on the Prince Albert Raiders (22-12-3-1). Tonight is the 4th of 8 meetings between the two clubs with the Raiders wining the first two in overtime and then the third in a shootout.  Puck drop is at 4:00 with the pre-game at 3:35 on 620 CKRM.

The Lead Up
Adam Brooks scored with seven tenths of a second left in overtime on Friday night to give the Pats the 4-3 win over the visiting Swift Current Broncos. The Pats led 2-1 after two periods but Swift Current scored two quick ones to lead 3-2. Sam Steel scored with the extra attacker on with 60 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and then he set up Brooks for the winner. 

The Raiders lost on Friday night in Saskatoon to the Blades 6-1. It was a 2-1 game after 40 minutes but the Blades exploded for 4 in the final period to take the two points. Ryan Graham led the way with 3 points for Saskatoon while Matteo Gennaro scored the Raiders lone goal.  

Adam Brooks…
We are running out of superlatives to describe the play of the Pats Adam Brooks over the last month. He is riding a 10 game point streak with 22 points in that stretch. He has 3 points in 3 consecutive games and in the last four contests has matchup his entire offensive output from his 17-year-old season with 4 goals and 7 assists. His play has allowed for the success of his line mates Austin Wagner and Adam Berg as well. Wagner takes a 6 game point streak into tonight with 4 goals and 7 assists while Berg has scored in 3 straight and has an assist as well. 

Defence Chippin In
The Pats saw a number of their defenceman contribute offensively in Fridays win. Sergey Zborovskiy, Connor Hobbs, Colby Williams and Liam Schioler all picked up assists in the victory. Hobbs leads all Pats defencemen with 22 points on the season. In total the Pats decence coprs have combined for 84 points through 38 games this year. 

It’s Been Close
The Pats and Raiders have played three extra time games to start the season. Most recently the two teams went to a 4 round shootout in Prince Albert on Wednesday where the Raiders won 6-5. The Pats dropped the first two games against the Raiders in overtime, 2-1 and 4-3. Adam Brooks leads the Pats with 6 points in the three contests while Reid Gardiner has 6 points for the Raiders in the season series.
