Pats - Silvertips Game Day Preview


The Regina Pats (18-18-3-3) continue their trip through the U.S. in Everett tonight against the division leading Silvertips (24-12-1-2). Tonight is the first and only meeting of the season between the two clubs. Puck drop is at 9:00 Regina time with the pre-game at 8:35 on 620 CKRM.

The Lead Up
The Pats scored 4 times in the 11 period and didn’t look back from their in a 7-2 win over the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday. Adam Brooks led the way with 4 points while Sam Steel and Connor Hobbs each had three in the win. Jordan Hollett stopped 26 of 28 shots faced.  

The Silvertips were last in action on Sunday when they beat the Chiefs 3-1 on the road. Tristen Pfeifer had a goal and an assist for Everett in the victory while Carter Hart turned aside 29 shots.

Pats Busy on Deadline Day
The Pats made two moves on Sunday ahead of the WHL trade deadline. First the team traded forward Colton Kroeker to the Lethbridge Hurricanes for a 3rd round pick in 2016. Then they flipped that pick along with a 2nd in 2018, 5th in 2017 as well as overager Brian Williams and prospect Gary Haden to the Medicine Hat Tigers for overage star Cole Sanford. Sanford scored 50 goals last season and will make his Pats debut tonight.

Brooks and Wagner Keep it Going
Adam Brooks extended his point streak to 13 games on Saturday with his 4 point performance. That is the longest streak in the WHL this season, he has put up 9 goals and 18 assists for 27 points in those games. Wagner meanwhile is running the third longest active streak in the league at 9 games. The Calgary product has 7 goals and 9 assists for 16 points in thos games.

Hollett Rebounds
Pats goaltender Jordan Hollett had a solid night in Spokane on Saturday. He allowed just two goals on 28 shots. That snapped a stretch of four games and eight of nine that the Pats had given up 3 goals against or more. Tyler Brown is close to returning and could be in the lineup tonight against the Silvertips.
