Pats - Winterhawks Game Day Preview

The Regina Pats (19-18-3-3) look for a third straight win tonight when they head to Portland to take on the Winterhawks (20-19-2-0). The Pats are two and oh on their road trip so far against the U.S. Division. Puck drop is at 9:00 Regina time with the pre-game at 8:35 on 620 CKRM.

The Lead Up
The Pats found themselves down 3-1 after 2 periods in Everett on Tuesday before Adam Brooks scored twice to force overtime. With the powerplay in the extra frame, Cole Sanford ripped home his 1st as a Pat with 2.3 seconds left in OT and the Pats took the 4-3 victory.   

The Winterhawks were shutout at home to the Kamloops Blazers on Sunday 3-0, their 3rd straight loss. Adin Hill stopped 31 of 34 shots in the loss while Connor Ingram made 21 saves for the shutout in the Kamloops goal.

Sanford Impactful in Debut
Cole Sanford played in his first game with the Regina Pats on Tuesday and scored the OT winner with 2.3 seconds left to play. Sanford, Sam Steel and Lane Zablocki looked dangerous in their first game together against the Silvertips with a number of good scoring chances. The goal for Sanford was his 22nd of the season.

Brooks Leading the Way
Pats forward Adam Brooks had another three point night last night and is now the leading scorer in the WHL. Brooks sits with 68 points on the season, two points ahead of Tyson Baillie of the Kelowna Rockets. Brooks carries a 14 game point streak into tonight’s game with 31 points over that span, 11 of them goals.
