Pats - Blades Game Day Preview

The Regina Pats (30-24-3-4) look look to get back in the win column tonight when they hit the road to Saskatoon to take on the Blades (23-33-4-0). Tonight is the 7th of 8 meetings on the season between the two clubs, the Pats are 3-2-0-1 in the first six meetings. Puck drop is at 7:05 Regina time with the pre-game at 6:40 on 620 CKRM.

The Lead Up
The Pats threw 42 shots on goal in a dominant effort against the Prince Albert Raiders at the Brandt Centre on Friday night but lost the game 3-1 and saw their seven game win streak come to an end. Rylan Parenteau was outstanding in the Raider goal making 42 saves. Cole Sanford scored the Pats lone goal on the powerplay in the 3rd period. 

The Blades have been off since Monday when they beat the Brandon Wheat Kings in overtime 6-5. Nick Zajac scored the winner, he was one of four Blades who had two point nights. The win was the Blades fourth in a row.  

The Matchup
The Pats hold a 3-2-0-1 record against the Blades through the first 6 meetings of the year. The Pats have outscored the Blades 20-16 in those games. Sanford meanwhile has a 10 game streak going with 9 goals and 9 assists in that span. Sanford scored his 13th powerplay goal last night to extend the streak, Brooks had the initial helper. Both Brooks and Sanford are tied for the team lead in goals scored with 33. 

Brown Suffers First Loss of February
Pats goaltender Tyler Brown saw his 9 game winning streak in goal come to an end last night against the Raiders. The 18-year-old made 22 saves on 24 shots in the defeat, his first loss in the month of February. Brown holds a 9-1-0-0 record in the month with a 2.87 GAA and a .920 save percentage. He has started the last 8 games for the Pats and appeared in every one of the teams last 17 games.
