The Lead Up
The Pats scored 3 minutes in on Friday night and never looked back in a 5-1 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers at the Brandt Centre. The Pats put 45 shots on goal in the victory. The win put the Pats 7 points ahead of the Tigers who are the closest team outside the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.
The Cougars were in Brandon on Friday night and lost a
tough one, 8-3, their second straight defeat. Former Regina Pat Jesse Gabrielle
had a goal and two assists for the Cougars in the loss. The Wheat Kings were
led by John Quenneville, Jayce Hawryluk and Ivan Provorov who had four point
nights.
Brooks Back in
Front
Pats forward Adam Brooks took back the WHL scoring lead
thanks to a four assist night on Friday against the Medicine Hat Tigers. Brooks
assisted on all three of the Pats goals in the 1st period and then
had the lone helper on Sergey Zborovskiy’s empty net goal late in the 3rd.
The four points puts Brooks at 78 on the year, 51 of those assists. He is two
points ahead of Dryden Hunt of the Moose Jaw Warriors and Brayden Burke of the
Lethbridge Hurricanes who both have 76 points.
Gabrielle
Makes Return
Former Regina Pats forward and Boston Bruins prospect Jesse
Gabrielle makes his lone visit to the Brandt Centre on the season tonight. The
18-year-old Moosomin product was traded to Prince George in the off-season for
forward Lane Zablocki. Gabrielle is currently leading the Cougars in scoring on
the year with 33 goals and 61 points. With the Pats last year, Gabrielle put up
10 goals and 19 points in 33 games played.
Back to Back
Nights
The Regina Pats will look to do something tonight they have
not done all season long. The club is looking to win on back to back nights for
the first time all year. Nine times this year the Pats have won the first game
of a two game in two nights stretch but on the following night they hold a
0-5-2-2 record.
