Keith Hershmiller Photography
Regina, Saskatchewan – Regina Pats Head Coach and GM John Paddock announced Pats Captain Colby Williams returns to the lineup tonight against the Saskatoon Blades.  The over-age defenceman has been out of the lineup since January due to a follow-up surgery to repair an off-season injury.
The Regina native has 11 points (5G, 6A) in 16 games this season with the Blue and White.
Williams had a standout season in 2013-14.  He was named a WHL Eastern Conference Second Team All-Star, the Regina Pats MVP and Top Defenceman.  Colby posted 41 points (11G, 30A) and was among the league leaders in plus/minus with a +45 rating.  Colby Williams was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the fifth round, 173rd overall, of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
The Regina Pats also announced they have recalled Riley Bruce (’99) from the Winnipeg Thrashers of the MMHL.  Bruce was Regina’s fifth round pick, 101st overall in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.  This season, the 6’1”, 177 lbs. defenceman put up 25 points (9G, 16A) in 28 games.  He also added three points (2G, 1A) in six playoff games.

Bruce coming up from Midget to watch, learn & practice will be a good experience for him. Maybe push for a spot next season against Schioler and Pouteau.

It will be interesting to see what happens on defense. I would think the 4 right shots will all dress and will be interesting how they spread them out now that Williams is back. Either Hobbs or Freadrich are more capable on the left side than Zbrovskiy or Williams right now who won't be 100% to start.

Hopefully Williams can get into game shape before playoffs.
