Pats - Rebels Game 7 Preview


The Regina Pats (7-4) play a decisive game seven tonight at the Enmax Centrium in Red Deer against the Rebels (7-4). The Pats won convincingly in game 6 at the Brandt Centre on Sunday 5-1 to force game seven. Puck drop is at 7 o'clock with the pre-game at 6:35 on 620 CKRM.

The Lead Up
The Pats outshot the Rebels 40-21 in game 6 on Sunday and won 5-1. Connor Hobbs had a goal and an assist in the victory, Sam Steel two helpers and Tyler Brown stopped 20 of 21 shots faced for his 7th win in goal. The second period was the difference for the Pats where they outshot the Rebels 22-4 and scored three times to take a 4-1 lead to the third period. Jake DeBrusk provided the lone goal for the Rebels in the loss. 

Home Series
Through six games in this second round playoff series, the home team has won every game. The Pats have yet to lose at the Brandt Centre in these playoffs and hold a 5-0 record while the Rebels are 5-1 at the Enmax Centrium. The Pats have outscored the Rebels at the Brandt Centre 17-8 while Red Deer at home has 12 goals to the Pats 6. 

Hobbs Clutch
Pats defenceman Connor Hobbs is at the top of his game in the post season. The 18-year-old Washington Capitals prospect leads all WHL defenceman with 4 goals in the playoffs and 11 points. 3 of those goals have come with the man advantage which also leads the league. Hobbs has been held pointless just three times in the Pats 11 playoff games, one of which came in this series against Red Deer. Hobbs is tied for 9th in post season plus/minus as well at +6 so far. 

Sanford Streaking
Pats forward Cole Sanford is tearing it up in his final playoffs of his WHL career. The overage winger from Vernon B.C. has points in every one of the Pats 11 playoff games this year with 7 goals and 9 assists for 16 points. Sanford is tied for 2nd in playoff scoring behind only his teammate Adam Brooks who has 22 points. Sanford in 47 career playoff games has scored 24 goals and has 54 points.
