Matthew Tkachuk scored twice including the OT winner as the London Knights won the 2016 MasterCard Memorial Cup with a 3-2 victory over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Sunday afternoon.

The Knights opened the scoring in the second when Tkachuk tipped a shot past Marchand for his 4th to make it 1-0. However 15 seconds later the Huskies tied it up when Francis Perron tapped one in from the crease and it was 1-1.

In the third Rouyn-Noranda took the 2-1 lead on Julien Nantel's 2nd but the Knights drew even with just over 4 minutes left thanks to Christian Dvorak (7) and it was 2-2 and the championship game needed overtime.

In the extra frame Tkachuk (5) buried his second of the day on a toe drag and then release at 7:49 to clinch the championship and give the Knights their 17th straight victory.

London's Mitch Marner was named the tournament MVP, he had 2 goals and 12 assists in the four games played.

Great hockey game. Looks like the Pats have a ways to go to get to that level.
