MEMORIAL CUP: REBELS 5 HUSKIES 2

The Red Deer Rebels bounced back in their second game of the Mastercard Memorial Cup with a 5-2 win over Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Sunday. 

The Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first on goals from Timo Meier (3rd) and Julien Nantel (1st). The Rebels got one back just past the midway point when Evan Polei snapped home his 1st and it was 2-1 after 20. 

Red Deer dominated the second stanza outshooting the Huskies 16-11 and got two goals from Adam Helewka (2nd and 3rd) and one from Jake DeBrusk (1st) to lead 4-2. 

Haydn Fleury (1) added a powerplay goal late in the 3rd and Red Deer won their first game of the tournament, 5-2 the final. Both the Rebels and Huskies are 1-1 through 2 games. 

On Monday the Brandon Wheat Kings (0-1) will play the London Knights (1-0) in a 6 o'clock puck drop.
