WHL Championship: Wheat Kings take 3-0 series lead

The Brandon Wheat Kings took a commanding 3-0 lead in the WHL Championship series over the Seattle Thunderbird with a third straight 3-2 OT win.

John Quenneville opened the scoring for the Wheat Kings with his 14th at 5:17 to make it 1-0 visitors. However Brandon took two straight minors and went down 2 men for 1:22 and the Thunderbirds cashed twice. First Alexander True buried a rebound to make it 1-1 and then Keegan Kolesar gave Seattle the 2-1 lead with his 7th at 13:05.

After a scoreless second period, the Wheat Kings tied it up at 2 when John Quenneville scored his second of the night at 8:38 of the third. Tim McGauley made a great pass from the side of the net to find Quenneville all alone in front and he put home his 15th.

For the third time in three games in the series the Wheat Kings and Thunderbirds went to overtime tied 2-2.

In the extra frame Reid Duke played the hero with a toe drag in the slot and buried one off the post and in past Landon Bow to give the Wheat Kings the 3-2 win and a 3-0 series lead.

Game 4 is in Seattle on Wednesday night.

Hey Phil what have you thought about the refing in this series? In my opinion Zalaski is the worst ref in the WHL. I am not sure why he still has a job.
