RED SOX 6 BOMBERS 5

Regina ended their weekend with a 6-5 win over the Brooks Bombers on Sunday afternoon.

It was a back and forth affair as the Red Sox and Bombers traded leads throughout the game. Regina fell behind 5-4 in the top of the seventh when Brooks scored three runs on two errors and a pass ball. 425 fans watched the Red Sox come back and score two runs to grab a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Red Sox starter Ben Schweinfurth, the junior from Southern Oklahoma State University, pitched seven complete innings before giving way to Skyler Henson, who recorded the win. Closer Sam Brunner pitched the ninth inning to collect his team high ninth save of the year.

Jackson Dekker got the start for the Brooks Bombers and lasted just three innings. Red Sox outfielder Jonathon Nunnally welcomed Bomber reliever Alexander Carillo to Regina with a booming three run homer.

Nunnally held a hot bat for the Red Sox as he also contributed a couple of hits and scored two runs.

With the win the Red Sox improved their record to 19-11 on the season and sit in second place in the Eastern Division of the WMBL.

Next action will be Tuesday night when the Red Sox host Medicine Hat. Game time at Currie Field is set for 7:05 pm.
