Head Coach and GM John Paddock said it was a good game. "I thought it was pretty entertaining. Lots of good plays made, lots of good saves in the first period especially, the young goalies played pretty good. It was pretty entertaining effort."
Riley Woods and Jake Leschyshyn combined for 5 goals in the contest playing on a line with Dawson Leedahl. Paddock says they performed how he hoped they would. "They were good, that is sort of what we hoped for. That's where I was going to put Riley with Jake and Dawson at this point for some of the games. He has lot of natural offensive instincts. The other two are such workers but they have ability but sometimes you just need a more creative guy. At least for an inter-squad game the line was more creative."
Riley Woods, the Regina product is entering his 18-year-old season and says his line got off to a good start in camp. "I felt we had some chemistry there and we had a pretty good game... I guess our line just connected."
Leschyshyn was noticeable all night long and after being cut from Team Canada's Ivan Hlinka Under 18 squad this summer, he feels he has something to prove. "Yeah it was obviously a disappointment for me to get cut from that team but I am just using that negativity to fuel me for this entire season. I want to be a bigger leader on this team, I think I want to be one of the go to guys. Not so much looking up to other guys but just being one of those guys that is accountable every night and I think consistency will be a big part of that."
