SILVERTIPS PFEIFER RETIRES

EVERETT, Wash. – Tristen Pfeifer, a defenseman of the Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), officially announced his retirement from the game today.

Pfeifer’s announcement: “It’s time to say thank you to everyone in the Silvertip organization, from Gary Davidson who brought me to Everett, to the coaching staff who helped develop me as a player and more importantly as a person, to good friends like photographer Chris Mast, to my teammates who will always be like brothers. Everett has been my home for the past two years and I am very grateful for incredible billets, the front office staff, and the fans who all were more than I could have asked for. It’s unfortunate to reach this stage of life prematurely due to injury, but I am extremely grateful for a WHL scholarship which provides an education and new, exciting direction in life. Everett is a place that will be missed but never forgotten.”

Silvertips general manager Garry Davidson said: “Reaching the Western Hockey League is an achievement for a hockey player, and we admire the contributions on and off the ice that defined Tristen Pfeifer during his time as a Silvertip. We wish him the best in a new chapter of life and thank him for his tremendous service and willingness to create a positive experience in our community.”

As a back-to-back honoree of the Silvertips Scholastic Player of the Year Award and last season’s runner-up for the league award, Pfeifer skated in 109 career games for the Silvertips over the course of two seasons (2014-16), amassing 22 points (4g-18a), 85 penalty minutes and a +18 rating. He appeared in four postseason games and made his Silvertips debut Sept. 27, 2014 vs. Portland, registering his first career assist the following night.

Last season, the 6-foot-4, 195 pound defenseman posted a career high 13 points (2g-11a) and +13 rating in 60 games, also earning the Silvertips Community Relations Award. He opened the preseason as a participant in Arizona Coyotes Development Camp.
